Why not you?

“Hey, would you like to sit with us?” These are the 8 words that changed my life forever. I was at a Chic Fil A right across the street from the church I had just joined. I was taking their all-day membership class but was currently on lunch break. The girl who asked me the question was in the same class. I had noticed her dozing off a few times during the course. She was with two other young women and a guy, all of which were also in the class. Her question caught me a little off guard as I was usually one to keep to myself. But my mouth blurted out the words “yes” before my brain had a chance to talk myself out of it.”

We all introduced ourselves and discussed how each of us had found the church. After lunch, we went back to the new membership class, but we were all so intrigued by our previous conversation that all the girls went somewhere after to finish chatting. It turned out that we were all around the same age, and we were all pretty new in our walk with Christ. We were all from different cities and had different backgrounds, but something seemed to pull us together.

Fast forward 10 years later, and we are all still friends.  A few years ago, I participated in the housewarming of that girl who asked me to sit with them. A few months later, I attended the wedding of one of the other girls in the group. Oh, and the last young lady and the guy I met that day? Well, they’re married now. The wife is my very best friend. I was the maid of honor at her wedding, and she was the matron of honor at mine. We live on the same street, and our daughters are best friends. I couldn’t make this up if I tried. So much has happened in between these huge milestones. There has been a ton of accountability, prayers, Bible studies, serving together, fellowshipping together, standing with one another in the valley seasons, and celebrating each other at the mountaintops.

One thing is for sure; no one person is an island. God strategically connected me to this group of women and so many other people from my church for a reason. We must surround ourselves with a good community of believers, especially those from the local church we call home if at all possible.

This is why we created this community with all of its features including discussions, events and virtual Bible studies.

We know that not everyone gets asked to sit with them as I did at a Chick-Fil-A. So we wanted to give everyone a way to connect, hoping that these connections will lead to authentic, in-person lifelong relationships. So don’t be shy. Ask a question post a scripture or inspirational quote. Solicit a prayer request or whatever else you want to share with the community. We created Palmly with you in mind.

Would you like to sit with us? Join The Community

…..See you soon.
